Happy Thursday! Today I am so excited to introduce another wonderfully talented handmade artist-Genevieve from GreenRibbonGems.

I’ve been thinking a lot about product photography lately and I was surfing around etsy looking for some great examples when I spotted GreenRibbonGems. I noticed the photography right away (it’s FABULOUS!) Her photos are clear, beautiful, and consistent throughout her shop. And then, I feel in love with the Olive Green Swarovski Crystal Wire-Wrapped Pear Briolette Drop Pendant Necklace… **drool**

Here’s just a few other gorgeous pieces:

Hi Genevieve! Can you please tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Genevieve and I live in Newark, Delaware although I grew up in Portland, Oregon. I am a wife as well as a mom to a 1 year old daughter, I’m a geotechnical engineer (I figured out how to get paid to play with dirt!), I teach a geotech class at University of Delaware, and I make and photograph jewelry! Whew!

How long have you been creating?

I’ve been making jewelry for almost 4 years now.

What is the inspiration behind your pieces?

I tend to be inspired by colors and seasons. I’ll see a gorgeous sunset or beautiful orange and gold leaves when I’m out somewhere and think, I want to capture those colors in my jewelry!

What is your dream job?

I would love to act on stage, either in Shakespearean tragedies or in musicals. I love both!

Can you please describe your creative process?

Usually I get in the mood for a certain color, and then I sit down with my supplies and see what crystals or gems I have in that color. Then I take a break and go about my day, and think about what style of earring or necklace I could make with which stones, and when I get to the point where I feel I have a really good idea, I sit down and craft some jewelry!

What item would you be secretly heartbroken if it sold?

I would be heartbroken if I didn’t sell something! I am so happy when I sell something to know that someone else is enjoying something I’ve created!

What are some of the ways you promote your jewelry?

I do a few craft fairs every year, have a Facebook page, and I built my own website in addition to my Etsy shop. I also have a monthly newsletter I send out to people who sign up for it on my website.

What are some of your favorite books, movies, musicians, and websites?

Books: The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Stand, Harry Potter.

Movies: Last of the Mohicans, Kill Bill, Star Wars, The Birds, The Princess Bride

Musicians: Patty Griffin, Yes, the cast of Glee, James Taylor, Greenday, Kasey Chambers, the Les Mis soundtrack

If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?

This is a great question, I watch Heroes and I’m always thinking about which power I’d want. Right now I’d have to say the ability to fly, although being able to teleport would also be cool. I just think flying would be an exhilarating experience and I’d love to try it! Not to mention avoiding traffic and saving a lot on plane tickets.

Thank you so much Genevieve!!! I hope you all will check out her shop, not only for her gorgeous jewelry, but also to see an example of product photography done right!!!
