It’s been a little less than 24 hrs. since the historic blizzard of 2011 has ended. My car is finally shoveled out and the roads are fairly passable yet still kinda rough. It’s been a doozy of a few days. While I wasn’t brave enough to go outside in the snow and take pictures (hello! I’m only 5’2″– i would have been in snow up to my neck!) I do want to share some images from folks around Chicagoland and how they captured the blizzard on film…

Renegade Craft Fair- Chicago
This weekend was the long anticipated (by me, at least) Renegade Craft Fair. Division Street, between Damen and Paulina, was filled with some of the most incredible handmade goods made by over 300 craftspeople from all over the nation. Oh, I wanted to take home everything!!!! It was **so** hard not to whip out the credit card at every booth. Here are just a few of my favorite shops…

Renegade Craft Fair

  • Orangyporangy
  • handmade ladyware from orangeporangy

I loved these skirts. I don’t even wear skirts, and I wanted them all. They featured a great cut, and awesome awesome patterns and colors!

  • Steff BombSteffBomb

Loved the cute plush creations! They also had super cute sad hamburgers. Don’t believe me? Go check it out!

  • Squeaky Queensqueakyqueen

I’m a sucker for a good handmade soap. These soaps smelled amazing. And, they were cool too. It’s not everyday that you a prep soap complete with syringe

  • There were soooooooooooooooooooooo many other vendors that I loved and would love to show you and write about, but that would be nearly impossible as I need to get back to work.  Here’s a complete list of crafters that participated in the Renegade Craft Fair– please be sure to stop by and check them out!

The rest of the weekend was spent working on a LARGE stained glass door. I took it home from the theater last weeks and had plans to just clean it up a bit and re-lead the glass. Well, cleaning led to removing all of the lead which lead to a “blank canvas” sort of situation– so I created a new pattern and painted it in. (It looks awesome! Photos to come later!) I also worked on a Japanese scroll for the upcoming show. I can’t show you that– you’ll have to see the show to see it!!!!

taken at the Garfield Park Conservatory. I gotta tell you what a gem of a conservatory this is! I can’t believe I only discovered it last year (I mean, I’ve known about it all along, but it wasn’t until last year that I actually visited it!) It truly is one of my favorite conservatories/garden in the city. I think I like this one better than the Lincoln Park Convervatory (which is saying alot!!!) I can’t wait to check it out when it’s warmer and greener outside!
