I totally forgot about the request I had received for one of my photos to be used in a book until a check came last week. (I was contacted about this well over a year ago!) I was happy I got a check, but at the same time I was a little disappointed that I didn’t receive the book that my photo was used in.

Then, it arrived:

Winnebago County: Connected

Here’s a little excerpt from the front sleeve:

Winnebago County:Connected explores the charms and advantages of living and doing business in northern Illinois. Industrious, forthright, and self-reliant, Winnebago County exemplifies the American small-town way of life while offering the convenience of city living….As Winnebago County’s towns and cities experience a social and economic renaissance, a new generation is discovering opportunities in logistics, food production, health care, and high tech manufacturing. Winnebago County: Connected describes hoe a grand old county is reinventing itself as the changing face of America’s Industrial heartland.

How cool is that? Here’s the original photo

And look! They even credited me!

This is the first time that one of my photos has been published in a book! (I’ve had my photographs used in a newspaper article that I wasn’t credited for…) I’m so excited! Does this make me a real Photographer now? 😉

i bought this postcard as a reminder to do something i was afraid of– to look fear in the face and laugh. It was easy to do when I was in Oregon and faced with all sorts of new experiences. But here– i tend to chose comfort, and fall into a routine too easily.

I need to tape this postcard in my cube at work, in my bedroom, my fridge, on my computer desk, in my camera bag, on my easel…

I went to Joann’s yesterday. I love me some craft stores… Seriously. You know how some women are with shoes? I’m that way with craft supplies. (It’s a sickness, I tell you. ) I am like a kid in a candy store– I want everything. I want to try everything. Jewelry making, soap making, clay, glass blowing, pottery, quilting, crocheting granny squares… Name a craft, and I want to try it!

i feel like i have craft ADD or something. I have a million and three project started, and I have a terrible time finishing anything. (you should see how many paintings and scarves I have started!!!) I made a deal with myself at the beginning of the year to not spend so much monies on craft stuffs and to use what I have first. I’ve been doing pretty well, so far. Well… I did splurge when I was in Oregon (I bought two skeins of the most gorgeous and soft cocoa Malabrigo yarn.) I bought stuff from Blicks a few months ago (two shopping trips, one with my gift certificates, one without.) And now yesterdays little shopping trip. I’m amazed that I walked out of that store with only the materials I need for my super secret gift project!

now, if only I can harness that willpower when presented with chocolate and sweets…

another day where it was really late and i realized i hadn’t taken my 365 yet. the result is a crappy, non-creative, hurried 365 featuring a section of my bookshelf.

my cube wall. I stare at this every day (all day) since I no longer sit by the windows…
