Hello! Happy Monday!
This weekend just flew by! Went to the Field Museum Saturday afternoon which was awesome. My only complaint was that I didn’t get to spend enough time there. You seriously need to allot the WHOLE day (and even then, you still will not be able to see the whole museum!) and pack some extra Wheaties to prevent fatigue. Unfortunately, I had neither the extra time OR energy snack food. That’s okay though–I’ll just have to go again. (Oh darn! Another afternoon that will be wasted at the museum…)

I also picked up some very very tasty cupcakes and Valentine’s Day candy and had an incredibly productive photography session Sunday afternoon. I’m so excited! I added this brand new Red Velvet Cupcake Greeting Card to my etsy shop:

Red Velvet Dream Cupcake Greeting Card
(yes, this cupcake was absolutely divine!)

I’m having an incredibly difficult time picking out what other cupcake(s) I should add to my shop. I NEED your help!!!! Can you please take a look at my four top choices and leave me a comment with the number of the cupcake image that you like the best. I totally appreciate your thoughts and ideas!!!

As a thank you gift for your comment/opinion, I will pick one entry at random and send them a greeting card (or two!) with the winning cupcake image!

Cupcake 1: Red Velvet Trio

Cupcake 2: Red Velvet Group

Cupcake 3: Three Wishes

Cupcake 4: Make a Wish
Please be sure to leave me your name and an email address so I can contact you if you win!

I will be accepting comments for this poll until Sunday, January 23rd. I will post the winner on Monday, January 24th!!! Good luck and THANK YOU!!!!

hello! Happy Monday!
Man, the weekends always seem so unbelievably short! I can’t believe it’s Monday already. This weekend was good– not as adventure packed as I had planned, but still good. Saturday morning I went to Friendship Park Conservatory in Mt. Prospect for my Digital Photography Field Trip Class. (what? you still didn’t know that I teach Photography Classes? Here’s some info about it) It actually turned out to be the perfect morning to shoot. It rained the night before and most of the morning, but stopped shortly before class so everything still had raindrops clinging to it. It was a little cloudy so there was no harsh shadows and it wasn’t crazy hot and humid (yet.)

Here are a few shots I took during class:

You can see the rest of the photos from both Digital Photography Field Trip Classes on my flickr stream.

Also, here’s a really sweet testimonal/review of this class from my student:

I went to the Friendship Park Conservatory for the photography field trip yesterday and had a GREAT time. This session was valuable because I was really conscious of what was around the subject of my photos. Watching April helped because I noticed her taking time before she took her pictures. As a result, I became more thoughtful before I started snapping away!

You don’t need to have a fancy camera to benefit from these sessions. I realized that many of the photos I took can be taken with pretty much any type of camera.

I’m looking forward to the next session and can’t wait to find out where we’ll be going.

Andi

(you can also read the review of both my Digital Photography Field Trip Classes here.)

I also watched “The Men Who Stare at Goats” Saturday night. Interesting movie. I really like Jeff Bridges as an actor, but couldn’t help but wonder when he was going to call himself “The Dude”. It was funny movie, and preposterous in some parts. I’m glad I waited to see it, as it was a great movie to rent. I think I would have been disappointed to have paid $$ to see it in the theater.

Sunday I did some damage at Blicks again… **sigh** I can, however, justify the purchases. I bought a whole bunch of stuff for my etsy shop. I bought some Art Boards to mount photos on to (Can’t wait to play with these!!) and some mat boards to add to my shop. Exciting stuff is happening!!

Speaking of exciting stuff– I am one of the exhibitors the Papernstitch website!!! Stop by and check this site out! Papernstitch is an online exhibition space that was created to promote talented artists, designers, and makers selling handmade goods. the exhibition space is curated monthly and showcases the best of the best on an international level. I’m so excited to be a part of it this month!!!! Here’s my shop at Papernstitch!

I’d love it if you stopped by and checked it out!

I’ll be back tomorrow with a whole new list of helpful links for your handmade craft business!

wow. it was absolutely gorgeous in chicago yesterday. in the 70’s and sunny– an absolutely perfect spring day. today will be more of the same! I’m looking forward to my 4 day weekend, Easter (and the after Easter candy sales!) and going to the Garden on Sunday. This will be my first visit to the Garden this spring. I can’t wait!!! I’ve already seen a few magnolia trees in full bloom!

oh, i am so ready for spring. bring it on!

I’m doing the unthinkable. I’m giving up sugar for Lent. No cookies, cake, chocolate, brownies, red-velvet cupcakes, overly sugared cereals (that mean you, frosted shredded mini-wheats) and, quite possibly the most difficult– no sugar in my coffee or tea.

yeah. you heard me. no sugar added to my coffee.

I thought about giving up meat, but that would be too easy. I thought about giving up coffee, but frankly, I value the lives of those around me too much. I wanted to give up something that would be a daily challenge and I believe giving up sugar will be challenging.
I’m not talking about giving up ALL sugar. If it’s added to a meal and I don’t know about it, its okay. I’m just talking about overt sugar in the form of delicious and delectable sweets. and, of course– straight sugar.

so far, I’m on day two of this sugar hiatus. I gotta tell ya, starbucks coffee is seriously NASTY….
