Hey creative folks! I need your help!!!!!

I have this awesome new cupcake shot (for some reason, I really really love the way it turned out!) and I want to put it in my etsy shop, however, I can’t think of a fun and creative title.  I want something more a little more fun than “Cupcake with Measuring Tape” or “Cupcake #176.”

This is where you come in (don’t worry– there is something in it for you!)

Please leave a comment with the most fun and creative title for this cupcake photo. I will pick a winner next week Monday, December 21st. The winner will not only have the satisfaction of giving  my cupcake photo a fabulous new title, but will also receive of your choice of five note cards, or one 5×7 print. How easy is that?!!

I can’t wait to hear your suggestions!!!! Thanks for your help!!

heard you caught a bug

so, i’ve had a rough/scratchy throat (complete with the oh-so-sexy i just smoked 12 packs of cigarettes voice) and have been coughing for a week now.  D mentioned yesterday that it sounds like I have bronchitis (he should know, he gets sidelined from this every year.) I went to my parents house yesterday, and the first thing Dr. Bern (aka, mom) said was “I think you have bronchitis” (again, another who suffers from a bout of bronchitis at least once a year.)

that would explain  why i’ve been coughing like crazy for a week, with no other symptoms usually indicative  of a cold or flu. no sneezing, sore throat, running nose, achy-ness… nope. just coughing. like crazy. So much so that my abs hurt now as if i’ve been doing crunches or something. i just hope that when i finally stop coughing, i will have a rocking six-pack.

According to webmd, here are the symptoms of acute bronchitis:

  • A cough, which is the main symptom of acute bronchitis. It may be dry at first and after a few days may bring up mucus from the lungs. The mucus may be clear, yellow, or green.  Sometimes, small streaks of blood may be present.  (check. and it’s clear, thankyouverymuch)
  • A mild fever, usually less than 101F. A higher fever may indicate pneumonia. (not sure about the fever. i feel okay and pretty “normal”)
  • A general feeling of tiredness. (check)
  • A sensation of tightness, burning, or dull pain in the chest under the breastbone that usually is worse when breathing deeply or coughing. (check)
  • Whistling noises or wheezing when breathing, especially during physical exertion. (check)
  • Hoarseness. (check, although this seems to have gotten a little bit better)

Webmd also says “Most cases of acute bronchitis in otherwise healthy people last only 2 to 3 weeks. But more than 20% of people with acute bronchitis have a cough that lasts more than 4 weeks.”

I’m hoping that whatever I have is on it’s way out soon. *sigh*

here’s what webmd says I should to to treat bronchitis:

  • Relieving your cough by drinking fluids, using cough drops, and avoiding lung irritants. You may also use nonprescription cough suppressants, which may help you to stop coughing, and expectorants, which may make coughing easier so you can bring up mucus. Research on cough suppressants and expectorants does not show that they stop a cough, but some people might find them helpful.
  • Avoiding caffeine and alcohol, which cause you to lose extra fluid from your body and may lead to dehydration.
  • Stopping smoking, if you smoke.
  • Getting enough rest so your body has the energy needed to fight the infection. Generally, you feel better sooner if you rest more than usual while you have acute bronchitis.
  • Using nonprescription medicine, such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or aspirin, to relieve fever and body aches.
  • Breathing moist air from a humidifier, hot shower, or sink filled with hot water. The heat and moisture can help keep mucus in your airways moist so it can be coughed out easily.

So, yeah, I was going to have a great big sale in my shop and a blog giveaway in honor of my birthday this week (shhh…) but I don’t think it’s going to happen. not this week. I don’t want to stress out about it and be up super late getting stuff done.  I might actually listen to D and my mom and rest and relax when i’m home. (i think i just heard some audible gasps!) i know, crazy, right?

Hello! Happy Friday!

(I hope your week was better than mine!) I’m looking forward to getting a hair cut (at a fancy salon) tomorrow morning. Let’s hope that the amount of tears is inversely proportional to the amount I spend to get a cut. I’ll post photos tomorrow if it doesn’t look too bad! I’m also looking forward to hanging out with my oldest and dearest friend Liv tomorrow nite (hello cosmic bowling!) and I’m especially looking forward to seeing all my old girlfriends from high school on Sunday evening! It’s been, what, 10 years since I’ve seen some of them? I’m super excited!!!!

Today’s New Arrival is my Follow Me 5×7 Fine Art Print. I added the photo greeting card yesterday (and will be adding the 8×10 print tomorrow)

Follow Me

Take my hand and follow me
to that place I long to be.
Take my hand and trust my way,
in that place forever stay.
Follow me toward the sand;
we’ll run and play, hand in hand.
Take my heart and hold it true;
forever I’ll stay close to you.
Seize my words and listen well,
then forever I will tell.
Release your heart and feelings too,
just as I will do for you.
Trust your heart and follow me,
to that place we long to be.

I had a fabulous weekend! The show, A Program of One Acts, was FANTASTIC!!!! I watched it on Saturday evening, and came back on Sunday to video tape it. Sunday’s performance was even better than Saturday’s! I only managed, however, to get 75% of it tapped…Note to self… BRING EXTRA BATTERIES!! *sigh*

I have a new arrival in my etsy shop this week!!! It’s a photo greeting card with one of my new favorite shots– I took this last week at the Chicago Botanic Garden at dusk.

Today’s i {heart} feature is a collection of frogs and toads, in memorandum of my frog, Turtle, who passed away this week…

Sorry my New Arrival is a little late– I had a little bit of a traumatic afternoon yesterday. I came home and found my little pet frog dead. Of course this would happen the day after D leaves. I really couldn’t bring myself to touch him, much less sit in the apartment with a dead critter until I could work up enough nerve to remove him…so I ended up taking the whole tank, with the dead frog, all the way to my mom’s house so she could, ahem… take care of… it. Then I just chilled at mom’s house for a bit and watched Dr. Who (hello! Why did no one tell me what a great show that is??!!)

So, here’s my new arrival– I love how the petals in the center form a heart!

I’m really excited about the new prints I will be adding to my shop.  I absolutely LOVE the “vintage” look about them. This is the first in series of Vintage Prints that I have created.  This is something really different than what I usually do, and I would love any feedback you have about these prints.

You can find Vintage Seashell in my etsy shop

Good morning! Happy Monday!
I hope you had a fabulous weekend– I was having a great weekend up until I got sick. Let me tell you, having a summer cold just sucks.

Anyways, I added a new photo greeting card in my shop today– its one of my favorite new photos I’ve taken this spring/summer. We were at the Chicago Botanic Garden about two weeks ago and were amazed to see the biggest and brightest poppy display-ever!!!
Hope you like it! You can find it in my etsy shop!

hey! Would you look at that? I finally updated my blog banner! This is one of the shots I took the last time I visited the botanic garden (one of 682 shots…)

Oh, and before I forget, I am featured in an interview on the Lefthand Madens— a blog that features interviews with other talented left-handed artists! Check it out!
