“April showers”
“April, where’s May and June?”
“April, it’s your month!”
Those were some of the things I heard in grade school. I used to hate the month of April (and my name!) because that’s all I would hear (boy, kids are cruel…) That, in addition to not paying attention in class and hearing my name (which was in context of a date), would startle me and make me think I was being called on ALL THE TIME… Nowadays, I find that people don’t tease me as much so when someone calls me “April Showers” I say, “if you’re lucky!” or when they ask me where May and June are, I tell them I don’t know about May, but June (my sister!) is doing well. And yes, April IS my month!! 🙂
(And because I know what you were thinking, no, my birthday is not in April either…)

This week’s inspiration is April Showers, in honor of the month of April that’s right around the corner! I hope you enjoy these lovely, lovely etsy finds!

Hi! I’m always really excited this time of year when I start to see things (finally!)begin to grow. It’s a definite sign that our long and cold winter is loosening its grips in our area. (I’m really jealous of those folks in California who have been posting spring blossom pictures on flickr for the past month…)

I noticed that my parents neighbors tulips and daffodils were beginning to grow and that made me really happy. Soooo happy, in fact, that when I arrived back home, I planned out when I was going back to the Botanic Garden to begin my annual stalking of the tulips and other spring blooms (next weekend!) and I shopped for Spring Green related items on etsy. These are my fabulous Spring Green inspired finds– I hope you enjoy!

Hello!!!! St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner (March 17th) Yay!!! I always get a little reminiscent around this time– it was the day after St. Patrick’s Day (1998) that I went on my trip to Ireland. What an amazingly beautiful country! I would LOVE to go back, this time with my trusty camera instead of a jerky boyfriend (who ended the relationship while we were there) and have the opportunity to capture the countries beauty on film…

In the meantime, I hope you have a wonderful and safe St. Patrick’s Day celebration and enjoy the St. Patrick’s Day themed gems that I found!

Hello! Happy Wednesday! Oh man, I am so ready for spring. Last week we were teased with near 60degree weather. That was so awesome! The mountains of snow were finally starting to melt… Fast forward one week– more snow. Okay, so yesterday was a mere dusting compared to the nearly two feet we received a few weeks ago, but seriously? I am so so so tired of the snow and cold weather. I did see a little robin outside my apartment last week so that gives me hope that spring is just around the corner…. I hope you enjoy some of the awesome robin-themed finds from across etsy! I hope spring is starting in your neck of the woods!

Wow! What a snow storm! So far, we’ve received a little over 20 inches of snow in the Chicago area. Some suburbs have received up to 23 inches. It’s officially the third largest blizzard since Chicago began keeping records more than 120 years ago. And it isn’t quite over yet. There’s still a chance of lake effect snow. It was so crazy last night– not only was it snowing sideways and complete white-out conditions, there was thunder and lightning too. Winds were fierce at 50-70 mph at times and people were stuck in their cars for hours on Lake Shore Drive last night.

Today, my poor car is completely buried and there are snow drifts up to the windows… Yeah, I’m not going anywhere for a while. Chicago is essentially shut down. So today I’m working from home (and shopping!) I hope you are someplace warm and safe and enjoy today’s blizzard inspired finds from etsy!

I live across the street from a forest preserve and every day I see lots and lots of deer. These deer are so tame they eat out of peoples hands. I drove past the forest preserve this morning and saw them grazing in the cleaning and I thought to myself (as I often do) “wow– that would make an awesome photo– I’ve got to come back here and take some pictures!” (I’ve been saying this for the past few years…)
